Choosing a Studio that's Right for You

Questions you might ask yourself:

  • What type of dance degrees or certification do the faculty have?
  • How much experience does the staff have working with children?
  • What is the student/teacher ratio per class?
  • What is their focus and philosophy?
  • How many years have they been in business and what is their reputation?
  • What is their price comparison?
  • Do the teachers themselves regularly attend workshops to keep up on styles and techniques?
  • Are those workshops also available for their students?
  • Do they offer field trips to professional area performances, NYC for classes or Broadway shows?
  • Do they have qualified faculty to teach proper technique?
  • Do they offer various programs for students to reach and excel at advanced levels if so desired?
  • Do they have an open door policy where students can also attend classes at other area studios?
  • Do they encourage, support and cooperate with those students who do other athletic activities?
  • Have any of their students ever made it professionally in the dance world?   How many?
  • Do they have monthly newsletters or web-sites to keep parents informed at all times?
  • How interactive are they with parents?
  • Do they have someone available to answer questions?
  • Do they offer yearly scholarships?
  • Do they participate in fundraising events for charities?
  • How do the recitals compare?
  • Do they have a summer program?
